First, congrats for becoming a v/blogger!
Curious ... Why don't you use wordpress??
Blogspot? Umm... I am not really familiar with it. I signed it up recently to experiment embedding videos. It does not work for blogspot bloggers. There is no way to insert videos in comment box. Also, it seems so limited compared to wordpress.
I strongly suggest you to own a domain name such as www.iammine.com and have your web host install WP database (MySQL) for you. From there, you can choose a theme and customize it to your preference.
As for finding a web hosting service, I suggest you check One and One (http://www.1and1.com). It is pretty cheap. They will help you install WP or you can even ask one of WP team to install it for you for free.
That way you will have more control of your blog.
Get a domain name! Let me know... I will try my best answering your questions, even helping you with WP stuff.
